FISH-ADAPT Project Announces Interim Grievance Redress Mechanism
January 21, 2026
The Department of Fisheries in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), is pleased to announce the official launch of the “FISH-ADAPT: Transforming Saint Lucia’s Fisheries Sector for Climate Resilience” Project funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This transformative initiative is designed to enhance climate resilience, support sustainable fisheries development, and safeguard the livelihoods of fishers and coastal communities throughout Saint Lucia. FISH-ADAPT represents a significant step forward in building the adaptive capacity of the fisheries sector, with targeted interventions aimed at improving data systems, strengthening community engagement, modernizing fisheries management, and equipping stakeholders with tools to better respond to climate-induced challenges. As part of its commitment to transparency, accountability, and stakeholder participation, FISH-ADAPT has established an interim Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM). This mechanism provides all stakeholders, including fishers, community members, and partners, with an accessible and trusted pathway to raise concerns or submit complaints related to project implementation. The GRM ensures that grievances are addressed promptly, fairly, and transparently, reinforcing the project’s dedication to inclusive and responsible development. The Department of Fisheries and FAO look forward to working closely with all partners and communities as FISH-ADAPT moves into full implementation, laying the foundation for a more resilient and sustainable fisheries future for Saint Lucia. Any grievances or concerns related to the FISH-ADAPT Project may be directed to us by telephone at 758-725-1609 or via email at FAO-STL@fao.org
