DENNERY RANGE

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the area from Labayee bridge in Bexon to the Malgretoute bridge in Mon Repos.
  2. Assist the various units within the department in carrying out activitiesas per work plans
  3. Assist Wildlife unit with cleaning and replenishing bait stations on Dennery and Praslin islands, maintaining iguana nesting sites at Louvet, conducting white-breasted thrasher surveys, and capturing and relocating of iguana and boas.
  4. Maintain a nursery with over six thousand (6000) plants. These plants are used to supply the projects such as the Iyanola Project, South East Coast Project and also tree planting on environmental commemorative days, and activities with schools and the general public.
  5. Work with the different projects (Iyanola, South East Coast Project) which fall within the Dennery range.
  6. Conduct tours on the Barre De L’Isle rainforest and the Barre De L’Isle to Grand Ravine track.
  7. Patrol and monitor areas such as La Sorciere and Piton Flore in Derniere Riviere, Louvet, Raillon in Praslin, Errard in Dennery and Fond in Mon Repos.
  8. Selling of trees: mahogany, blue mahoe, lowye, gommier.
  9. Maintain forest boundary
