The Community Story of Babonneau – BCP
We come from Babonneau; a place filled with green hills, fertile soil, and people whose hearts are as generous as the land itself. They say no one can ever go hungry in Babonneau, and it’s true.
Here, every yard holds something edible, a mango tree heavy with fruit, a breadfruit waiting to roast, or a bunch of ripe plantains ready for the pot. In Babonneau, the land provides, and we make sure nothing goes to waste.
We’ve watched the generations before us turn what others might overlook into something special. What others might see as ordinary, we see as possibility; because that’s what Babonneau has always taught us: to create, to care, and to never let a blessing go to waste.
That same spirit lives in us, the women of the Babonneau Cluster, from the Saint Lucia Network of Rural Women Producers. Whenever we come together to make our products, it never feels like work. We are happy, laughing over steaming pots, working together to create something we love. There is also an overwhelming feeling of pride; knowing that what we make tells our story in every jar and every bag.
Through OCOP, we’ve been able to share that story with Saint Lucia and beyond.
Our products are a reflection of who we are; creative, resourceful, and deeply connected to our roots.
And as we build this future, we make sure our children are right there beside us, learning the same skills, the same values, and same love for the land that our mothers and grandmothers taught us.
Because what we make isn’t food; its heritage and tradition carried forward, one product at a time. So when you taste our tamarind relish or bake with our breadfruit flour, you’re tasting more than just a product.
You’re tasting Babonneau; the warmth of its people, the abundance of its hills, and the love that flows from one generation to the next.
You’re tasting home!
Babonneau Cluster Producers
The Babonneau Cluster Producers is a community-based group of women agro-processors dedicated to transforming locally grown crops into value-added products that reflect the traditions, flavors, and resilience of the Babonneau community. Rooted in cooperation and shared knowledge, the cluster works collectively to preserve traditional food practices while creating new economic opportunities through agro-processing.
Operating under the Saint Lucia Network of Rural Women Producers, the Babonneau Cluster brings together women who cultivate, process, and package products that showcase the richness of local agriculture. Through collaboration with the OCOP Core Group, the cluster produces a select line of standardized products that meet established quality and labeling standards.
