June 17th 2026
Approximately 50 farmers cultivating more than 100 acres of farmland in, Babonneau, are now benefiting from improved access to water following the rehabilitation of the Irrigation System through the Seven Crops Project and support from the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The rehabilitated system, with a capacity of approximately 30,000 gallons of water, includes the removal of accumulated silt, repairs to critical infrastructure, installation of a new filtration system, provision of pipes and fittings, excavator services, and the distribution of 150 sprinkler heads. The project is expected to improve agricultural productivity, strengthen climate resilience, and support food security within the farming community.
The rehabilitation effort also benefited from the active participation of farmers who contributed labour and resources through the traditional spirit of Koudmen, helping to restore the irrigation network for long-term use. The Ministry of Agriculture expressed its appreciation to the Government of Taiwan, the Shasse Farmers Group, and all stakeholders whose collaboration contributed to the successful completion of the project.
