Overview & Output

The Extension Staff were instructed on how to use the Guru App however, the officer thought it was a great objective by requesting training with farmers from Region 1 & 2. The aim of the officer was to invite fifteen(20) farmers; ten(10) from the assigned area and five(5) per other officers from region 1&2. Fourteen(14) farmers were invited. The versatile Marketplace application increases the success of trading produce by utilising data to help align farmer production to buyer demand, thereby easing produce gluts and scarcity. It simplifies the trade of agricultural produce from your phone, tablet or computer. The objective of this app is to easily help:
● Buyers inform the market of their produce needs up to one year in advance. This includes, quantity, variety, specifications and date required.
● Farmers use the demand insight to select what crops to plant to meet future demand or to find a buyer who wants to purchase his current harvest.
● Through a series of notifications, farmers are prompted to answer simple questions that help project their harvest quantities.
● The information collected is essential to accurately project the overall production quantity of crops coming to the market and their expected date. Combined with the demand information, buyers and farmers can use the market insights to support decision making.
● Farmers and buyers use the marketplace to undertake transactions to completion.
All participants were assisted with installing and signing up on the Guru Marketplace App.The farmers were really riveting and showing enthusiasm. The officer and the app developer do follow-ups on entries on the app. Although it was an unprogram activity , it was indeed a success.
