International Plant Health Day- Plant Health Clinic

Friday May 12, 2023 will be celebrated as International Day of Plant Health (IDPH) around the world. This is annual event which seeks to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health and thus having healthy plants can aid in the following ways:  ending hunger, reducing poverty, environment protection and increasing economic development. This year’s theme “Plant Health for Environmental Protection” aims to raise awareness and lend a hand to keep plants healthy and help protect the environment and biodiversity.

The International Day of Plant Health calls for the involvement and support of everyone.  To celebrate   IDPH 2023, as the National Plant Protection body, The National Agriculture Diagnostic Facility (NADF) will be hosting a Plant Health Clinic onsite. The purpose of which is to help support plant health services as it relates to pest and disease diagnose and the management of plant health problems. Also, to provide other related advisory and information services to farmers.

This activity is targeted to all farmers and extension officers from the eight agricultural regions, and by extension to backyard farm owners and to the general interested public. This event will facilitate in person exchange between research officers and crop producers (farmers, kitchen garden owners etc) to assist with plant health concerns or general information.

The activity will take place on ground floor of the National Agricultural Diagnostic Facility on Friday 12^th May 2023 from 9:00am- 3:00pm.
