Date: 22nd September,2022
Venue:Tissue Culture Conference Room, Union
Presentor: Edward Wilson,Taiwan Technical Mission

Background
In Region 2, the Massy Stores Produce Manager, Dunstan Demille, noticed poor post harvest handling in Lettuce Production. As a result regions 1&2 in collaboration with the Taiwan Technical Mission hosted a training aimed at providing solutions to the lettuce farmers.
Objectives
● To educate farmers on different varieties of lettuce.
● To maintain quality and to reduce losses from harvest to the consumer.

Output
Ten(10) out of twelve (12) targeted farmers were present. Lettuce is a very fragile crop, susceptible to improper post harvest handling. Therefore, participants were guided as to how to maintain quality and to reduce losses from harvest to the consumer. The session was thought to be informative, useful and engaging.

Anticipated Impact
Farmers will be more aware of post-harvest handling management by handling, storing, and transporting lettuce after harvest.
