Saint Lucia's sea moss gaining traction

With Saint Lucia’s sea moss gaining traction in international markets and more farmers diversifying into this niche product, farmers from the Aupicon Seamoss Association got an opportunity to meet with the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Rural Development, Hon. Alfred Prospere, to discuss the current state of the sea moss industry as the minister continues to develop the strategic plan for the agriculture sector.
The sea moss farmers spoke on the challenges they are currently facing including sea moss quality issues and land acquisition difficulties. Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Rural Development, Hon. Alfred Prospere reaffirmed his commitment to assisting sea moss farmers to combat the several issues plaguing the sector, with a continued focus on increasing Saint Lucia’s food security and improving people’s lives.
